Brittany Maynard, a 29-year-old, chose to die last month after receiving a diagnosis of terminal brain cancer. She wished to die on her own terms using the pills prescribed to her by her physicians – rather than by the cancer itself. This case has raised interesting questions about death and what our own deaths should look like. In certain cases, should we be permitted to opt for physician assisted suicide? Currently only 5 states permit the practice.
